The editorial board of Ramjas Economic Review organised a workshop on the topic "The Art of Designing Scientific Research Problem in Economics" on 31st October 2023. The speaker for this lecture was Dr. Apoorva Gupta, Associate Professor at Hansraj College, University of Delhi who is also an alumni of Ramjas College.

Amal Varghese, the Editor-in-Chief of Ramjas Economic Review welcomed the gathering. As a token of appreciation, Prof. Gupta was gifted with the recent issue of RER, by Mr. A Vijay Kumar, Teacher-in-Charge of Department of Economics, Ramjas College. Prof Gupta started the session with an interesting anecdote about how finding a research question and framing the same is like either filling new wine in old bottle or filling old wine in a new bottle.

The three specific questions needed for the creation of a research question and hypothesis was then discussed. The main obkjective and priority must be that there must be something 'new' in our research. Later on, Prof. Gupta discussed the three typesof research paper i.e. descriptive, empirical and theoretical and the various attributes accrued to each of these.

Finally, an open discussion was conducted to analyse the various research questions that the students of the department had in their mind for their personal and curricular research works.
